Here is the data, compiled from published analyses of past papers, and here is the thing almost nobody tells you alongside it. NTA does not publish official weightage, so every table you have ever seen is somebody's estimate, and the estimates disagree with each other by a lot. Figures read from Careers360's chapter wise weightage page, which states it analysed 475 questions, and Collegedunia's, both checked in August 2026. Neither is wrong. We are showing the spread rather than hiding it, because a student allocating months of study deserves to know how firm the numbers are.
Look at the direction of the disagreement too. It is not consistent, so one source is not simply reporting higher figures throughout. Careers360 is higher on four chapters and lower on two. That is what you would expect from different counting methods rather than from one being wrong.
The reason is mundane once you see it. One compiler counts a question that uses integration inside a coordinate geometry problem as coordinate geometry, another counts it as integral calculus, and neither choice is unreasonable. Multiply that judgement across several hundred questions and you get gaps of five percentage points without anybody making a mistake.

Ranges rather than single figures, deliberately. Precision to two decimal places would imply a confidence the underlying data does not support.

Optics and electrostatics carry the widest JEE Main chapter wise weightage spread between sources of any chapters we compared, which is why both are given as ranges rather than figures.
Rotational motion deserves a specific note. It is consistently well weighted and consistently the chapter students leave for later, because it is genuinely difficult. That combination is why it costs more marks than its percentage suggests.

Two useful answers, three misleading ones. Most students use JEE Main chapter wise weightage for the third row, which is the one it cannot support.
